Crown Reduction
The reduction in height and spread of the crown. Crown reduction may be used to active mechanical stress on individual branches or the whole tree, making the tree more suited to its environment or to reduce shading. The result should retain the main framework of the crown and the leaf bearing structure.
Pollarding
The initial removal of the top of a young tree at a prescribed height to encourage multistem branching from that point. Once started, it should be repeated on a cyclical basis always retaining the initial pollard point, or boiling as it becomes known.
Dead Wooding
Removal of non-living branches and stems due to natural ageing or external influences. Deadwood provides essential habitats and its management should aim to leave as much as possible, shortening or removing only those that pose a risk. Durability and retention of deadwood will very by tree species.
Tree Felling
This may be required if a tree is diseased or has been damaged beyond repair. If a tree has been damaged by a storm or other means, and cannot be saved, then the tree will have to be felled. Also if a tree is hung up or has fallen but is caught on a surrounding tree, then this is a safety issue and will need felling.
Stump Grinding
Once a tree is removed there is still a stump left in the ground. Stump grinding is the most efficient method of removing a stump, it involves grinding the stump with specialist machinery. Once a stump has been completely ground away the area can be levelled and top soil grass seed applied if applicable.
Hedge Trimming
Specialists hedge trimming, reductions, and shaping of all hedges. We undertake commercial contract hedge cutting and domestic hedge cutting.
